I’m Gunnar Ragnarsson, an Icelandic fine art photographer.
I studied at the Icelandic Film School and the School of Photography in Reykjavík, where I developed both technical skill and a conceptual approach to storytelling. I approach photography not just as a way to document life but as a tool to reflect on it. Black-and-white photography has become central to my work because it lets me focus on emotion, light, and form without distraction. Removing color allows the gestures, expressions, and subtle interactions within a scene to come forward.
My goal is to transform everyday life into meaningful visual narratives. I want my work to communicate emotion, spark reflection, and leave a lasting impression. By exploring the balance between personal observation and shared human experience, I hope to create images that are intimate, contemplative, and accessible, giving viewers a space to pause, connect, and see the beauty in the ordinary.
